2 Days in the Valley

I woke up for my morning cup of coffee and didn't know what to do without the news.  How was I ever to find out what was going on in the world?  One thing I noticed is that I didn't have to hear all the negativity and terror going on.  Happy news just doesn't sell I guess.

In a quest to save money on my cable bill, I figured out that I will be saving money in other areas as well.  For one, I won't have the tv on all the time.  I will now keep it unplugged unless I am using it.

Another thing I found out when I logged onto my ComEd account was an electricity management section.  This showed me how I compare my energy consumption with my neighbors.  I thought I was doing better then I was...I am in the middle.  While my energy efficient neighbors are obviously better, there are a number of neighbors that are consuming more energy then myself.

So after entering in some data, I found out that most of the energy use is used on appliances.  So I set off and raised the temperature on the freezer and fridge.  Lowered the temperature on the hot water heater and convinced my wife we don't have to turn the air on just yet.

Day by Day I plan to cut costs and save more for our new house.  Oh did I mention we bought a new house that is being built!  We move in September.  Also, my wife is pregnant.  And that is the whole reason I want to save :)
